US ethanol production jumps to 15.07 billion gallon annual clip

In Washington, according to EIA data as analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association, US ethanol production averaged 993,000 barrels per day (b/d)—or 41.71 million gallons daily. That is up 37,000 b/d from the week before and the third-highest output rate on record. The four-week average for ethanol production stood at 983,000 b/d for an annualized rate of 15.07 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol stood at 19.8 million barrels. That is a 0.8% decrease from last week. Imports of ethanol were zero b/d for the third time in four weeks.

Gasoline demand for the week averaged a healthy 395.6 million gallons (9.420 million barrels) daily, a 14-week high. Yet, refiner/blender input of ethanol averaged just 839,000 b/d—down 4% from the previous week and the lowest since early February. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production was 10.54%.
