Indian researchers file patents for coconut oil-based biofuel

In India, following two years of successful trials on a Tata Motor Ace magic, a four- wheeler public transport vehicle, researchers at SCMS College of Engineering and Technology have filed for a patent in India and the US to protect the coconut oil-based biofuel it has developed. The fuel was developed as part of the college’s ‘Zero carbon, zero poverty’ initiative that has put a focus on developing new biofuels to reduce carbon emissions and negative environmental impacts resulting from the use of fossil fuels.
