December 17, 2015 |

In New Zealand, Z Energy’s NZ$26 million tallow biodiesel plant is ready to begin commissioning early in the new year, at first producing 20 million liters annually but scalable to 40 million liters. Already the company is retailing B5 blends at its gas stations around the country, and the biodiesel from the new facility will eventually be available in Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions. Fonterra, the country’s largest dairy producer and an ethanol producer fro cheese whey, is supportive of biodiesel production to help it reduce its carbon footprint from transporting 18 billion liters of milk annually.
