India doubles ethanol blend to 10% but start date unknown

In India, the government has doubled the ethanol blending mandate to 10% despite not being able to supply the current 5% ethanol blend. The government has put in a host of policies including financial support for sugar mills so they may invest in ethanol production capacity. The food minister who revealed the new policy didn’t say when the increased mandate would come into effect nor what would be the result of non-compliance if states didn’t achieve targets.
