Iowa’s ethanol production passes 4 billion gallons in 2015

December 29, 2015 |

In Iowa, thanks to federal investment in more blender pumps, the state produced a record 4 billion gallons of corn-based ethanol in 2015, up from last year’s 3.9 billion gallons thanks to increased efficiencies and new cellulosic ethanol production facilities coming online. The state accounted for 27% of the country’s entire corn-based ethanol production with 43 ethanol refineries, and is the country’s renewable fuels leader including its 12 biodiesel plants. Blender pumps are likely too continue boosting demand next year as well.
