FTC releases final rule for high ethanol blend pump labels

December 30, 2015 |

In Washington, the Federal Trade Commission has issued its final rule regarding pump labels and octane ratings for ethanol blends above 10% and below 83% following an extensive and extended public comment period. The proposed rule was first published in April 2014 though the process first began in 2009 and was delayed in 2011 until the EPA made its ruling on E15 blends for vehicles from 2001 and newer. The new rule is meant to streamline octane ratings, calculations and labeling to make compliance simpler.
