Indian government to announce wider ethanol policy within a month

January 14, 2016 |

In India, the government plans to announce a new broader ethanol policy within the next month that will go beyond the sugar industry and look at other feedstocks such as agricultural waste. Already the cabinet approved the use of cellulosic feedstocks in December 2014 but there isn’t specific policy to support its development or implementation. The policy is likely to look beyond the 10% blending mandate as well to support the use of ethanol for public transport, like buses, among other uses.
