Egypt shipped ethanol to Europe in 2015 and is targeting Africa in 2016

In Egypt, the Egyptian Sugar and Integrated Industries Company succeeded in exporting 20,000 metric tons of ethanol to European countries in 2015 and is currently negotiating an offtake agreement for another 50,000 tons to an Indian company located in Egypt. The state-owned company is also looking at opportunities to market both ethanol and sugar to African countries. In 2016, the country expects to produce 1.2 million tons of sugar from up to 11 million tons of cane.
