February 2, 2016 |

In Ghana, Caltech Ventures is preparing to commission the country’s first ethanol plant in March, first using 400ha of cassava and ramping up to 1,000ha by year’s end, with another 2,000ha available for planting. Outgrowers will also be contracted to supply feedstock. Ghana currently imports 60 million liters per year, while one of the country’s largest importers owns 40% of the company. Initial distillation runs ahead of commissioning are set to begin soon. The project will also produce electricity and animal feed.
