European biodiesel prices fall to 10-month lows as winter spec demand falls

February 15, 2016 |

In the Netherlands, rapeseed biodiesel prices are falling back like ethanol due to lack of demand for winter spec and buyers holding off on buying summer-spec fuel. Prices last week fell to 10-month lows at $811.75/ton. April is when blenders switch to summer spec where lower quality PME and FAME can take the place of more expensive RME. Last Wednesday, RME had a premium of $84.75/ton over FAME 0. With demand fading, margins are also shrinking, forcing producers to slow down production in line with demand.
