In Argentina, the government has reversed its recent trend of supporting biofuel producers and providing them some respite from a weakened international market and has instead imposed raised biodiesel export taxes to 3.89% from a record low of 1.62% while boosting domestic biodiesel prices by 5%, both of which are retroactive to Feb. 1. To compensate for losses in exports, producers had sought higher domestic prices but also lower export taxes. The peso has depreciated 50% against the dollar since December 16.
