Prosecutions begin and investigations continue over smuggled ethanol in Kenya

In Kenya, heads are starting to roll following the confiscation of smuggled ethanol, sugar and other goods at Mombasa port with nine people to be prosecuted, including one from the Kenya Revenue Authority. Another 10 companies as well as all KRA officers who dealt with the assignment will be investigated regarding their potential connections to the smuggling. Last month, 66 containers of smuggled ethanol were impounded and have since been destroyed, along with 17,600 50kg bags of sugar.
