China’s future as an ethanol importer remains cloudy

In China, the country’s future role as a major import market remains a quandary with experts divided over the issue. The US Grains Council estimates China will consume as much as 12 million metric tons of ethanol annually in 2022, compared to just 600 million gallons in 2012 but COFCO says demand will only be a fraction of that, as current demand is roughly 2.5 million tons. Only about a quarter of the fuel market is E10.
