Poland delays double counting UCOME biodiesel until 2017

March 1, 2016 |

In Poland, the country has delayed implementation of double counting for waste-based biodiesel until 2017 with the establishment of the rule not expected until the end of 2016. The plan had been to introduce the policy, making it compliant with the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive, back in 2015 but the Council of Ministers didn’t approve it in time so it was postponed. Only about 10% of the biodiesel demand will be UCOME, however, in order to protect local vegetable oil biodiesel producers. There is limited UCOME production domestically.
