Green Fuel’s founder implicated in the Panama Papers scandal

In Zimbabwe, perhaps unsurprisingly, the controversial owner of Green Fuel has been identified as one of the participants in the tax avoidance scheme known as the Panama Papers. A tax official said the case would be investigated for potential tax evasion and foreign exchange regulation violations. There is a mandate to blend Green Fuel’s ethanol in the domestic market but the level changes depending on the success of the cane crop. Major Zimbabwean mining companies have also been implicated in the ever-widening corruption case.
