Argentina’s corn ethanol industry says its ready to boost production 60%

In Argentina, the corn ethanol industry says it is ready to step up to the challenge to significantly boost production in line with proposed blending mandates, with three operating facilities ready and able to expand production within the next 8 to 10 months. With expansion projects of $500 million each, they could boost production by another 300,000 cubic meters on top of the current 490,000 cubic meters expected for this year, already up from 328,000 cubic meters in 2015. Corn production could rise to 6 million hectares in response from the current 4.2 million hectares.
