Air NZ committed to aviation biofuel despite potential Virgin Australia divestment

In New Zealand, Air NZ is expected to continue its aviation biofuel collaboration with Virgin Australia despite the likelihood it will divest from the Australian airline. Currently Air NZ owns 25.9% of Virgin Australia. Last month the two airlines launched a joint procurement exercise for aviation biofuels in an attempt to stimulate the industry. Even if Air NZ drops its VA investment, the two airlines’ commitment to aviation biofuels remains demonstrated by the closed-door information session held last week with potential suppliers.
