Manildra under continued fire for lobbying and manipulation to get blending mandate

May 4, 2016 |

In Australia, Manildra is under fire for allegedly inflating numbers related to jobs in the ethanol sector in order to secure legislation requiring smaller fuel retailers to blend ethanol in New South Wales. The company told the better regulation minister that ethanol supported 3,000 direct and 20,000 indirect jobs. Media reports recently demonstrated that the company met 20 times with ministers and donated more than A$160,000 in the lead up to the policy’s recent approval.
