OSHA investigating fatal fire accident at POET Biorefining

In South Dakota, OSHA is investigating the accidental death of a worker who was killed and another injured during a fire at POET’s biorefinery south of Hudson. The two workers were contracted by an outside company to do works on the facility. The worker who died sparked the fire while welding. The investigation into the incident could take up to six months to complete. The incident comes on the heels of OSHA suggesting fines of $149,000 to the ethanol plant in Coshocton, Ohio for safety and health violations.
