Indian ethanol blending mandate jeopardized by “faked and forged” docuement

May 23, 2016 |

In India, the national sugar mills association says that a “faked and forged” document claiming that mills in Uttar Pradesh must have a certain license if they are to produce ethanol is jeopardizing the country’s capacity to achieve the national ethanol blending policy. UP is India’s largest ethanol producer, last year reaching 560 million liters, so if mills are forced to stop production then there won’t be supply to fulfill the demand. The association’s director general says the scam was likely developed to derail the program by people who have vested interests in the ethanol failing as an alternative fuel.
