USDA says April corn and sorghum consumption for ethanol fell

June 2, 2016 |

In Illinois, the USDA says corn consumption for ethanol in April fell to 392.4 million bushels from 430.9 million bushels in March and 407.8 million bushels during the same period last year. DDGS production fell in line with ethanol production to 1.702 million tons in April compared to 1.920 million tons in March. Sorghum consumption also fell, with April consumption at just 7.337 million cwt compared to 9.979 million cwt in March. Despite lower use figures, it’s still a major shift from 2015 when no sorghum was used.
