China seen importing DDGS and sorghum to blend with sample corn for feed

June 9, 2016 |

In China, as much as seven shiploads of DDGS and sorghum have been contracted from the US likely to be blended with low quality domestic corn for animal feed. The government has decided to offload 78 million bushels of sample corn from its reserves which will lower corn prices for the time being but may lead to increased imports over the medium term. So far the country has only imported 7 million bushels of corn this year, and hasn’t been a main importer during the last few years. It is thought the legal wrangles over DDGS and GMOs in said DDGS is a result of the country’s growing low quality corn reserves and how to manage them.
