S2G Biochemicals may go commercial long-term with Pennakem

June 21, 2016 |

In Tennessee, following a successful five week run this spring producing plant-based glycol at commercial scale for Canada-based S2G Biochemicals, the Pennakem chemical plant in Memphis may get the gig to produce the green chemical on a permanent basis, as well as a secret food additive. The facility has historically produced furfural from oat husks and was spun off from Quaker Oats in the 1980s. S2G is currently working to secure the financing required in order to take on full-time commercial production and is hopeful the Pennakem facility could be where that process takes place.
