Seville to trial UCO biodiesel in urban bus fleet as part of EU project

June 23, 2016 |

In Spain, part of Seville’s urban bus fleet will trial UCO biodiesel as part of an EU-funded life project that aims to encourage residents to recycle cooking oil rather than throwing it out. A pilot biodiesel facility will be built in the town of Gereza and the fuel will be tested for quality and then trialed in the buses. The project began in 2014 and is set to finish in 2017. The consortium includes the University of Seville, CIEMAT, Cartif technology center and Campo Sur Investiga who will be responsible for the actual fuel production.
