#6: New Queensland biofuels mandate
In Queensland, the Liquid Fuel Supply (Ethanol and Other Biofuels Mandate) Amendment Act 2015 was passed on 1 December 2015. It requires the fuel industry to meet targets for the sale of biobased petrol, such as E10 which is an ethanol-blended petrol, and biobased diesel.
“The introduction of a biofuels mandate commencing on January 1 next year is a big step in the right direction, but to get strong investment in the industry you need a mandate of 5% or higher,” said Mark Sutton, executive director of the Biofuels Association of Australia.
