No one hurt but dryer damaged from fire at Nebraska GPRE plant

July 7, 2016 |

In Nebraska, no one was injured in an early morning fire that did considerable damage to the dryer at Green Plains’ ethanol plant in Wood River. Fire crews were called out before 6am on Thursday morning and put out the flames, but were called back 15 minutes later after the fire flared back up again. The fire is thought to have been caused by a power outage. The 121 million gallon per year ethanol plant was commissioned in 2008.
