NNPC to invest $300 million in ethanol production in Benue state

In Nigeria, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company is preparing to invest $300 million in an ethanol facility that will use sugarcane, cassava and oil palm residues as feedstock grown on 20,000 hectares that have been provided by the Benue Government as equity. The project will be financed through a joint venture with foreign partners and technological partners have been secured.  The government has developed a pipeline of seven more similar projects in other states but the Benue project’s success will determine if they go forward.
