California Ethanol and Power granted $2.5 million to help reach financial close

In California, the Imperial Irrigation District’s Board of Directors approved a $2.5 million grant for California Ethanol and Power to help the company’s planned $500 million sugarcane ethanol project reach financial close. The project would grow 55,000 acres of sugarcane in the in the Keystone Industrial Park south of Brawley in the Imperial Valley to produce 66 million gallons of ethanol annually along with 50MW of electricity. Last month, CE&P appointed Technip as the engineers to develop the project.
