India to release cellulosic ethanol policy strategy within two weeks

August 1, 2016 |

In India, the new policy to support expansion into ethanol production from crop waste is expected in the next two weeks in the form of a cabinet note. The transportation minister has been giving hints that the government’s plan is for the ethanol blend to reach 22.5% as a result of the new policy from the current 10% that it struggles to achieve using sugarcane molasses. Currently crop waste like rice and wheat straw is burned but support for using it as feedstock for ethanol is expected to transform the crop waste supply chain.
