Washington county looks to reduce GHG emissions with renewable diesel switch

August 3, 2016 |

In Washington state, Chelan County Public Utility District is looking to switch over to drop-in renewable diesel for use in its vehicles following successful trials showed no impact on performance. Though some concerns remain such as impacts on rainforests from the use of palm feedstocks to the price that is currently higher than fossil diesel, the switch would help the county reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2.3 million pounds every year, about a two-thirds reduction.
