UK biofuel consumption fell 9% during 2015/16

August 8, 2016 |

In the UK, biofuel consumption fell 9% during 2015/16 to 1.522 billion liters with 52% coming from ethanol while 46% was made up of biodiesel, including FAME (fatty acid methyl esters), HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oils) and off-road biodiesel and the rest comprising biogas and biomethanol. Biodiesel consumption reached only 3% blending, compared to the 4.5% mandate but the difference was made up with double-counting from waste feedstocks. UCO was the largest feedstock at 36.5%, followed by wheat, sugar beet and corn.
