India to shift ethanol policy towards price that floats with the market

August 10, 2016 |

In India, the government has decided to move towards an ethanol policy where prices are pegged to the market rather than have a fixed price in an attempt to bring the policy in line with international trends. By 2020, ethanol demand should reach 4.5 billion liters per year while biodiesel will hit 6.75 billion liters. The country consumes nearly four times as much diesel annually as gasoline but the biodiesel blend is expected to be far lower than the 22% blend anticipated for ethanol.
