Sacramento County to trial Neste’s renewable diesel if prices remain in check

August 30, 2016 |

In California, Sacramento County will trial Neste’s renewable diesel during the next three months in its fleet of more than 400 trucks and other vehicles in what it hopes will be a path towards reducing GHG emissions. The price has been a main crux of switching over to renewable fuels such as Neste’s drop-in fuel, sometimes running cheaper than fossil diesel but also sometimes running more expensive. As the county buys about 1 million gallons of fuel per year, the Board of Supervisors will have to sign off on continuing the trial if the price goes above fossil diesel by more than 10%.
