Brazilian anhydrous stocks up 16% on year and on the week but hydrous down 7%

August 31, 2016 |

In Brazil, central-south anhydrous ethanol stocks were up 16% on the year on August 16, also up 16% from the two weeks prior. Anhydrous production for the crush so far this year was at 6 billion liters, 17% higher than last year, following mills’ decisions earlier this season to focus on ethanol over sugar production. In the meantime, higher sugar prices have encouraged mills to switch to sugar production rather than ethanol. As such, hydrous ethanol stocks were down 7% on the year as of August 16, at 3.1 billion liters.
