PBF Energy seeks to boost ethanol handling capacity five-fold

September 7, 2016 |

In Delaware, PBF Energy is seeking permission to expand its ethanol handling capacity five-fold to 420,000 gallons from its current 84,000 gallons. Ethanol is barged to the facility where it is blended with gasoline and barged out again to neighboring states. Boosting the facility’s throughput would allow ethanol to also come in by train and blended fuel to go out by tanker truck, capacity that would allow it to serve East Coast refineries and thereby reducing their own operational costs.
