US ethanol production dips to five-week low

According to EIA data as analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association, ethanol production averaged 998,000 barrels per day (b/d)—or 41.92 million gallons daily. That is down 25,000 b/d from the week before and the lowest in five weeks. The four-week average for ethanol production stood at 1.020 million b/d for an annualized rate of 15.64 billion gallons.

Stocks of ethanol stood at 20.7 million barrels. That is a 1.3% decrease from last week. Imports of ethanol were zero b/d, unchanged from last week. Gasoline demand for the week averaged 403.0 million gallons (9.595 million barrels) daily. Refiner/blender input of ethanol averaged 934,000 b/d. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production was 10.40%, the lowest rate in five weeks.
