High Plains Bioenergy buys former Blue Sun biodiesel facility

September 14, 2016 |

In Missouri, High Plains Bioenergy has bought the former Blue Sun biodiesel plant in St. Joseph and renamed it HPB-St. Joe Biodiesel. The 28 million gallon per year facility will use corn oil produced at ethanol plants as feedstock but won’t integrate animal fats into its process as is done at its Guymon, Oklahoma facility. The facility is up and running, focusing on production of biodiesel with a lower cloud point with fuel going out via both truck and rail.
