Spanish ethanol consumption slips by biodiesel recovers slightly in August

In Spain, ethanol sales fell to 21,056 metric tons in August, down 15% on the year, and about 1% lower than July. The blending rate fell to 4.6% in August as gasoline consumption rose, compared to 5.78% blending in August 2015. Contrary to ethanol, biodiesel consumption rose during the month to 84,839 tons, up 1.5% from July and 3.7% higher year-on-year. Blending with diesel was 4.34%, up from July’s 4.16% but down from August 2015’s 4.45%.
