Fiberight breaks ground while PERC appeals permits decision

In Maine, Fiberight has broken ground on its MSW-to-ethanol facility despite the company allegedly having failed to secure all of its construction financing required. The company is still awaiting the final resolution of its appeal to finalize permits from the state’s department of environmental protection. Penobscot Energy Recovery Co., that currently processes the waste from more than 100 Maine communities through 2018, feedstock Fiberight expects to use when the current contract expires, has appealed the county court decision allowing the DEQ to issue the contested permits.
