Interstate Chemical to build $60 million sodium methylate plant in Ohio

November 8, 2016 |

In Pennsylvania, Interstate Chemical has decided to build its $60 million sodium methylate production facility in Ohio rather than in Erie, PA has originally expected. Though the company supplies nearby Hero BX with the catalyst for biodiesel production, as much as 10 trucks per week, the decision was made to locate the facility closer to the Midwest in order to better serve biodiesel customers in the region. Though the new location hasn’t been announced, it is said to be close to a high pressure natural gas pipeline, something the PA site didn’t offer.
