In India, the Bhoramdeo sugar mill in Chhattisgarh state will soon get a $10.4 million ethanol distillery to help supply the local fuel market. About 6.5 million liters of ethanol will be produced per year from molasses fetching more than double the income as fuel than selling raw molasses for feed or for other distillers to produce potable alcohol. Already a 6MW co-generation facility powers the sugar mill but it will be used to power the distillery as well.
