Natural Chem buys Abengoa’s Portales ethanol plant for biodiesel blending center

November 15, 2016 |

In New Mexico, Natural Chem has completed the purchase of Abengoa’s mothballed ethanol plant in Portales that the company plans to launch its regional Eco-Fuels initiative from. In line with the state’s B5 mandate, rather than ethanol production the facility will be used as a biodiesel blending depot including E5 and E20 blends. Natural Chem acquired the plant through a competitive process led by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri in St. Louis.
