Oil industry in Washington pushing for ethanol blending cap bill

In Washington, BP Fuels and Marathon Petroleum are urging lawmakers to pass the Flores-Welch bill introduced in May that would cap ethanol blending at 9.7%, a bill the COO of BP Fuels North America says has 117 cosponsors in the House. What direction president-elect Donald Trump will take on the Renewable Fuel Standard and biofuels in general is still not clear as for much of the campaign he appeared to support them but later staffers posted a policy document that demonstrated the opposite, though it was quickly removed from his campaign website.
