The Andersons on the lookout for corn arriving infected with vomitoxin in Indiana

November 21, 2016 |

In Indiana, The Andersons says it will dock farmers delivering corn to its ethanol plant near Chylmers with 4 PPM of vomitoxin and will reject those deliveries that arrive with 7 PPM or above following excessive rains during the growing season that led to conditions where the fungus can thrive. If animals ingest feed such as DDGS that is infected with vomitoxin they can become sick. Humans too can become ill if they ingest large quantities of the toxin.
