In Australia, Green Distillation Technologies has developed a method of destructive distillation to extract fuel from tires, such as a seven-ton tire used on mining machinery that can be broken down into 3,000 liters of fuel. The company hopes to ramp up production to 8 million liters by the middle of next year. The NOx emissions of the fuel are estimated to be about 30% less than fossil fuel while particle emissions were also a third less.
