In the North Pole, the good folks at oilprice.com have done some pretty detailed math to try to sort out the biofuel equivalent of what Santa’s reindeer would need to consume in order to deliver all of the presents to good little girls and boys on Christmas eve. Taking into consideration cost per acre of switchgrass production, adjusting for yield differences between the North Pole and the Midwest along with caloric intake required per mile flown, the calculation determined the equivalent of about 10 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol.
