Genscape says it cooperated with EPA and DOJ on uncovering RIN fraud

January 11, 2017 |

In Kentucky, Genscape says it will fight the Environmental Protection Agency’s attempts to revoke its third party ability to verify RINs. The EPA issued the notice last week saying the company had validated millions of false RINs in 2014 but the company responded saying it had issued a notice of potentially invalid RINs (PIR), followed up with the EPA as required, and worked with the Department of Justice in grand jury investigations. It also refutes the agency’s claim that the company must retire more than 68 million valid RINs to account for the false ones discovered as part of a major conspiracy.
