E10 may soon be France’s most popular gasoline

January 26, 2017 |

In France, unleaded petrol containing up to 10% ethanol is about to become the top gasoline used in France, in front of the traditional SP95 based on ethanol consumption data collected by the Bioethanol Collective. For the whole of 2016, the SP95-E10 accounted for 35.5% of the volume of gasoline sold, compared with 42.3% for the SP95, but “this gap narrowed over the last four months of the year,” Sylvain Demoures, general secretary of the National Union of Agricultural Alcohol Producers (SNPAA), a member of the Bioethanol Collective, told AFP.
