Company looks to revive never-finished Illinois biodiesel plant

January 30, 2017 |

In Illinois, Newton Biodiesel has been formed to try to recuperate the partially completed 30 million gallon per year biodiesel facility in Newton that never came online despite expectations it would do so in 2011.

Though it isn’t clear yet who exactly is behind the new company and what experience they have, city officials are confident that after several attempts over the past 15 years to get a biodiesel going that this group will be successful. Cleanup of the site has already begun.
