Nearly all of Australia’s canola exports seen headed to EU for biofuel feedstock

In Australia, Lachstock Consulting says 2.36 million metric tons of the 2.87 million tons of canola the country is expected to export this year is likely to go to the European Union for use as biofuel feedstock due to lack of GM crops. Japan and China will also import insignificant volumes for human and animal use. Canada, on the other hand, isn’t likely to export much canola to the EU as its canola is GM, instead exporting about 20% of its volume to Japan and 40% to China.
